Feb. 1, 2010 Freezing rain advisory issued for Asheville The National Weather Service has issued a freezing rain advisory for Asheville from midnight until 10 a.m. Temperatures are expected to fall below freezing this evening and may remain below freezing as precipitation moves in during the early morning hours. Most of any wintry accumulation is forecast to be in the form of ice with a combination of snow, sleet or freezing rain at times. Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing by noon Tuesday, and precipitation will change over to all rain. Freezing rain may cause travel difficulties Tuesday morning. Drivers should evaluate conditions before traveling and use caution on roadways. Additional information will be posted about the impact to city services, including transit and garbage collection services as weather conditions develop.
