Police institute special ‘No Need 2 Speed’ enforcement
Statewide program from 3-29 to 4-4-10

Beginning Mon., Mar. 29, the Asheville Police Dept. (APD) will kick off a “No Need 2 Speed” campaign in conjunction with the Governor's Highway Safety Program. APD officials said that the police will step up speed enforcement on the interstates and local highways. The campaign runs from March 29 through April 4, 2010. Why? Because vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for people between the ages of 4 to 34, and speeding is a factor in nearly a third of all fatal crashes, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
