UNC Asheville’s Family Business Forum to Hold Workshop on Women’s Roles in Family Businesses

UNC Asheville’s Family Business Forum will host a workshop on “Women’s Roles in Family Business: Changing the Face of Family-Held Companies,” from 8 a.m.-noon Wednesday, April 19, at the Lioncrest Ballroom at Biltmore Estate. The program, led by clinical psychotherapist Greg Greenleaf and family business expert Sharon Krone, will examine women’s leadership styles, succession factors for daughters, and tips to help husbands and male business partners work more effectively with women leaders. An optional lunch buffet will follow the program.

Greenleaf holds a master’s degree in counseling from Lesley College Graduate School. He had a thriving practice in Boston before making the decision to return to his family’s cutting tool business, where he served as president. He now uses his clinical background to assist family businesses in developing strategic plans to unify the family and the business.

Krone is the founder of the Family Business Communications Institute at the Loyola University Chicago Family Business Center. She holds a master’s degree in community counseling from Loyola University Chicago and specializes in family meeting facilitation, next generation leadership development and inheritors of wealth issues. Krone, who has published widely on family business topics, married into a fourth-generation family business.

Pre-registration for the workshop is required. The program is open to forum members and their guests. A limited number of seats are available for family business owners interested in membership.
