Parkside Poem HOLD TRUE: THE BATTLE LINES ARE DRAWN Poem by Byron Belzak Sign the petition to Stop Parkside. Kill the monstrous beast of greed. This condo project will deface our central park and cast its dark shadow upon our city hall for an eternity. Or don't sign the petition. Ignore what will be done by the man, the coal man, the grim reaper who turns honey into ash and men into lambs. So scoff at the people's conservancy. Grab their investment -- it's just land. Snort at their dream, the re-creation of what could have been -- world class. The choice is yours, my adopted hometown. Fight for what is best for you. But who are you? You, the community at large. Or, you, the profiteer beyond belief. The battle lines are drawn. There is no room for compromise. The people want their park. Forever. The developer wants his millions. Now. Both have the right to fight. Both have the chance to win. One dream will live. The other die. But who will hold true? And where stand you? In the magnolia? Or in the heat of the sun?
