Freeborn Pursues City Council Appointment
Freeborn Finishes 4th in Council Race; Requests Support For Appointment to Council Terry Bellamy's city council seat will be vacated since she won the recent mayoral contest. It will be filled by council members through an appointment process. The appointment is not based on vote totals. Therefore, city council members are free to select an individual whom they deem an asset to the council and the decision-making process.
Asheville Citizen-Times and other organizations had endorsed Bryan Freeborn for Council. On Freeborn's website, citizens are encouraged to email their support of his candidacy to elected city council members.

Prior to the election, Asheville Citizen-Times (AC-T) had announced its official endorsement for Bryan Freeborn’s candidacy for Asheville City Council. The endorsement appeared Nov. 1, stating “Freeborn, a 29-year-old carpenter, gets the nod because he is thoughtful, visionary and pragmatic, and because he represents young working families trying to make a go of it in Asheville.” The AC-T editorial board selected candidates to endorse based on their public statements, written responses to a candidate questionnaire and personal interviews.
