Dear Friends,

Many of you have inquired whether it is my intention to actively campaign for the open seat the new council will fill in December. First off, know that I am interested in serving on Asheville City Council. That has been and remains my goal. I recognize however that the decision is now up to the new mayor and five members of city council.

Having just finished a campaign where we got a good look at each other's strengths and weaknesses, I believe city council members know enough about me and my positions, as well as those of Bryan Freeborn and Keith Thomson, to make a good decision. I do not believe a blizzard of e-mails or phone
calls is appropriate at this time. I am willing to trust the judgement of city council and accept their decision.

For these reasons I ask that you let the process play out and join me in accepting whatever decision the new council makes. I remain grateful to those of you who have helped me get this far.
