New Law Enforcement Award Citizens Asked to Nominate A "Good Cop" for New Award; April 13 Deadline ABCRC ANNOUNCES FIRST ANNUAL LAW ENFORCEMENT COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD The Asheville-Buncombe Community Relations Council (ABCRC), in conjunction with several partners including the Asheville Police Department, Buncombe County Sheriff's Department, Asheville Housing Authority and the Asheville branch of the NAACP, is proud to announce the First Annual Law Enforcement Community Service Award. ABCRC is seeking nominations for officers serving in the Asheville Police Department or Buncombe County Sheriff's Department who have gone above and beyond the call of service to make the community better for all citizens. Any citizen can nominate an officer who fits the criteria for exemplary community service. Nomination forms are available at the Buncombe County Sheriff's Department, the Asheville Police Department, the Asheville Housing Authority, City of Asheville Community Centers, the Asheville branch of the NAACP and the ABCRC office. The deadline for the nomination is Thursday, April 13. Applications must be mailed or dropped off at the ABCRC office at 50 S. French Broad Ave. Forms may also be faxed to (828) 252-3026. The community service award will be presented at an honorary Law Enforcement Community Service Award Luncheon on Friday, May 19 at 11:30 a.m. at Biltmore Baptist Church. The luncheon is open to the public, and tickets are available for $15. Reservations are required by May 15. dta6goodcopawardbb
