*SARAH PALIN'S SUNDAY RALLY at Asheville Civic Center Requires Tickets | Asheville, a well-known hotbed of Obama support, will host a rally for Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin today, Sun. Oct. 26, 2008. On Fri. afternoon, DowntownAsheville.com spoke with a spokesperson of Mayor Terry Bellamy who confirmed that "it is not on her [Bellamy's] schedule at this time" to attend. For tickets, the McCain-Palin Western North Carolina "Victory Office" can be reached at 1-919-866-2130. Civic Center Parking Garage Open Today
*DOWNTOWN ASHEVILLE PARKING Is at a Premium This Weekend, So the City Stopped Parking Garage Repairs | The city has apparently stopped renovations of the Civic Center Parking Garage on SUNDAY ONLY to accommodate the crowd coming to the Palin Rally. However, the city officially stated in a press release that the one-day halt in renovations was weather related: "Due to recent weather conditions the resurfacing to the upper levels of the civic center parking deck have been put on hold.
