THURSDAY, MARCH 9: SARAH HARMER W/JOEL PLASKETT. Sarah Harmer returns to The Grey Eagle in support of her much-heralded new release, I'm a Mountain. "Canadian singer/songwriter just won a Juno (Canada's Grammy) for her last album All Of Our Names. The blurb on the CD read "Engineered, mixed and produced by Sarah Harmer and Martin Davis Kinack and at her house." Mountain is a studio recording, but it has the same homey, underproduced feeling of its predecessor. Harmer has a lively expressive alto, a voice you can easily fall in love with, and her heartfelt music is as warm as the memories of your first kiss. The backing tracks are spare, mostly guitars and acoustic bass, with subtle accents of accordian and mandolin, keeping the focus on Harmer's fragile vocals. The album is full of love songs - to the earth, to friends, to lovers lost and found - every one a sparkling gem." -Harp. Joel Plaskett opens. $12 advance/$15 day of show. 8:30pm.
Advance tickets available online and at our local ticket outlets. WCNW 88.7FM is a media sponsor of this event.

FRIDAY, MARCH 10: SHARON LAMOTTE & BILL GERHARDT TRIO W/SPITFIRE. A fantastic evening of jazz with Sharon LaMotte and the Bill Gerhardt Trio. "Experiencing one of LaMotte's live performances close up is like diving into a dose of honesty. Low-key, almost shy, LaMotte sings with a guileless disdain for embellishment. And with her softly swaying brunette hair, she resembles an earth goddess holding reverence for the natural simplicity of the song." -Rapid River. Young up-and-comers Spitfire perform afterwards. Come and enjoy an evening of Jazz with some of WNC's finest. $10. $6 w/student ID. 9pm.

SATURDAY, MARCH 11: BOBBY BARE JR w/HIGHS IN THE LOW 30S & SETH KAUFFMAN AND THE REAL MOTHERS. Bobby Bare Jr's Young Criminals Starvation League returns to The Grey Eagle! With a big-as-the-room persona, an ability to rock the doors off the most jaded of clubs, the heart to hold a room completely still with just his guitar, and a genius for arrangement, Bobby Bare and his band of merry makers are one of the most unique bands around. They are adept at abandoning common sense in favor of laying themselves at the feet of a rambunctious, freewheeling, and unfettered and unhinged muse. In the late 90’s, he fronted the boss hog rock band, Bare Jr. With their two records, "Boo-tay" and "Brainwasher," they memorably rocked out on a Nirvana-on-Skynryd-not-Sabbath groove, more indebted to the homebrew than "The Other H." These days he keeps himself even busier by appearing on album by indie rock heroes like the Silver Jews and Frank Black. "Bare works the audience like a carnival barker who also happens to write tender, honest songs that move the room to awed silence. Do not miss the opportunity to catch the healing power of this band live, who will put a smile on your face and drink one with you after the show." -Upstate Link. With special guest Highs in the Low 30s. Seth Kauffman & The Real Mothers open. $8. 9pm.

SUNDAY, MARCH 12 (EARLY SHOW): CATIE CURTIS. The Grey Eagle welcomes acclaimed Boston singer/songwriter Catie Curtis. "With a clear, deceptively gentle voice, she can turn on a dime and thrill the listener with unforeseen power and emotion. Intricate acoustic picking sometimes slants its way into jazz territory, recalling Joan Armatrading, and her staunchly feminist messages further the comparison. But Curtis is very much an original, and a refreshing departure from the stale formula offered by many of today's singer-songwriters." -RollingStone.com. "A folk-rock goddess." -The New Yorker
$12 advance/ $15 day of show. 7pm.

SUNDAY, MARCH 12 (LATE SHOW): THE SILVER JEWS. The Grey Eagle and Harvest Records proudly present the Silver Jews performing on one of the first stops on their first tour ever! According to Pitchfork: "The Love With the Lights On: Ballroom J Tour will feature 'a fiery oratorical performance' by ex-Pavement percussionist Bob Nastanovich, a "'professional style' multimedia stageshow', and 'country comedy' by Kevin Guthrie and Corny Crow... The whole she-bang will be co-hosted by Berman's wife (and fellow Jew) Cassie". "Silver Jews' David Berman, Holed up in Nashville by way of Virginia, stands tall among our nation's singer-songwriters: He's a veritable Timbaland of the spoken word, a wandering honky-tonk bard murmuring feverish, fractured one-liners in his handsome country-rock growl..." -Rolling Stone. Edith Frost opens. $12 advance/ $15 day of show. 10pm.
**Please note: due to the early show/late show turnover, no one with tickets to Silver Jews will be admitted inside until doors open at 9:30pm.
