WORK PARTY UPDATE; DIRECTIONS TO NEW MEDIA CENTER

Dear Members and Friends of URTV,

We have been receiving great support about painting and planting this Saturday from 1 -  5 pm. Thanks for all of your dynamite responses!

At this point we are still in need of:

- a wheelbarrow,

Please contact me if you can help out with these items and feel free to bring any flowers, plants or mulch. Someone has already offered some blueberry bushes, so keep in mind that berries of any sort would be a fantastic bonus. Again, thank you for all your kindness and support. You have proven once
again how unique the members of our community really are!

New Public Access TV-20 Media Center Work Party this Saturday

We are in our beautiful new facility and we need your help planting and painting this Saturday, March 11th from 1-5pm!  URTV is a community media center and we want to provide a space that is welcoming, professional and fun.

Warm weather is forecast for this Saturday, so it should be a
perfect day to dig holes, plant trees, build bulb beds, paint walls, doors and floors.

If you would like to participate, email Jen Mass (Jen@urtv.org) our new Program Director, and let her know that you plan to plant or paint.

If you have special tools that can dig holes for trees, or just a shovel, a pick or a hoe, let her know that as well.  Paint brushes, rollers and drop clothes would be helpful too!

We look forward to seeing you and thanks for helping URTV as we get closer and closer to being on the air!

New Public Access Television Hires General Manager, Local Producers Encouraged to Participate

URTV is pleased to announce that, following a national job search, Kurt Mann has been hired as General Manager of the organization. Mann has operated his own production company for the past 17 years and produced and directed hundreds of programs. A long-time Asheville resident, he has traveled to
more than thirty countries working on documentaries. Mann is also active in community economic development, public service, and the media arts.

His professional background, as well as his commitment to the WNC region, will prepare him well for work in public access television.

"My passion is storytelling through video. I find great value and satisfaction in teaching people how to tell their story and providing an environment in which their creativity can flourish."

-Kurt Mann

Beginning in November, Mann will conduct workshops and meetings to engage community members, establish operating procedures, and oversee the renovation and design of URTV's facilities.

Though the preparations to be made for the grand opening of URTV's media center in 2006 are substantial, Mann reminds enthusiastic, local producers and organizations, "It's not too
early to begin planning your program."
