Downtown Asheville Art Galleries' free Art Walk Friday on Aug. 3 | It's the season for walking around downtown, and no better excuse is needed than for participating art galleries to open their doors en masse from 5 to 8 p.m., on Fri., Aug. 3, 2018. Psssst, pass it on: On the art walk, hot wire your creative sensibilities at Momentum Gallery (24 No. Lexington Ave.) — and ask them about their plans for a new 21,000 sq.ft. gallery, located on Broadway next to the Mellow Mushroom. 'Downtown After Five' in Asheville on Aug. 17 | Having kicked off its 30th season in the spring, 'Downtown After Five' continues throughout the summer. Spring into Dance and honor Mother's Day with the Asheville Ballet | On May 11 & 12, 2018, beginning 7:30 p.m. at Diana Wortham Theatre, this professionally produced, family-friendly event features a special ballet in honor of Mother’s Day. It was created by Fleming Lomax, and features a new work by Asheville Ballet director Ann Dunn with live music by Earspace, as well as exciting new works by Tricia Renshaw, Sandi Weinberg, and Jessica Hodgins.
